1949
Gründung
als Gerhard Winkler und Co. Taschenfabrik in einer Hamburger Garage. Der Grundstein für travelite und der Startschuss für eine bis heute anhaltende Erfolgsgeschichte.
1978
travelite
Die Gerhard Winkler und Co. Taschenfabrik firmiert um und heißt fortan auch offiziell travelite – wie travel und light. Der Name ist Programm. Denn in Sachen leichtes Gepäck genießen wir in vielen Fällen unsere Pionier-Stellung.
2007
Hamburg
Am Merkurring wird das neue Hamburger Headquarter bezogen. Dort arbeiten die Mitarbeiter täglich mit Leidenschaft und Hingabe. Und das nicht weil sie es müssten. Sondern weil sie sich einfach gern einbringen. Genau so ist unser Team.

For us, sustainability is more than just a word
Even though we're still far from our goal, we're taking sustainable steps into the future. For us, sustainability means dealing responsibly, fairly and consciously with nature and our fellow human beings. We want to actively support the preservation of a future worth living for all of us. Even though we are only a small part of the bigger picture, we still see it as our duty to constantly improve ourselves. Step by step. Every day.
Initiatives aimed at reducing our corporate CO2 emissions include, for example, increasingly developing products that are made entirely or at least partially from fabric or granulate from recycled plastic waste, such as PET bottles or production waste from our own production.
We are also continuously working on avoiding packaging waste by nesting products together in a volume-optimised manner and using recycled cardboard packaging for shipping. We reduce disposable protective packaging to a minimum and now use foil protective packaging made from post-consumer recycled waste almost without exception. Such foil packaging does not add any new plastic waste to the cycle. These foils can also be recycled for reuse in existing European recycling systems with virtually no loss of quality.
But for us, sustainability also means manufacturing products with a long service life. In this way, we not only formulate demanding physical and chemical specifications for our materials, raw materials and attachments, but also ensure that particularly stressed wear components (such as casters, telescopic handle, locks and handles) for travelite luggage, can be replaced, where technically possible.
